A Beautiful New High-tech Training Facility in the Kansas City area that features state-of-the-art dental technology paired with a world class lecture hall and learning facility.
After years of thought and a hefty investment of time and resources, the doors of Corporate Lakes Education Center opened for its first CE course in October 2016 in Overland Park, Kansas in the greater Kansas City area. “The goal of the Center is to bring the leading educators and most important topics in dentistry to dental professionals of the Midwest.” says founder and clinical director Douglas Schulz, DDS.
Schulz, who has been passionate about teaching his entire career, believes that one of the most important components of advanced dental education is the relationships that are developed between instructors and dental colleagues. “The ability to ask a question, share an opinion, disagree with a point of view, or question a technique is fundamental to learning.” Corporate Lakes Education Center provides a supportive clinical collaborative learning environment for conversation, discourse, practical hands-on workshops and live surgery.
Located in the vibrant community of Overland Park, KS, in the Greater Kansas City area, Corporate Lakes Education Center is a newly opened state-of-the art training facility that welcomes groups large and small for dental education and hands-on training. The facility features:
Travel time and airfare costs were the driving force behind the facility, admits Schulz. “For Midwest folks, it can take a full day of travel just get to your CE destination, then, it’s a full day back. If you’re gone for three or four days and take staff along, it turns into a significant investment in both time and finances.” Dr. Schulz wanted to build a facility that practitioners could drive to. The facility is conveniently located if you’re in any of the five surrounding states (Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and Iowa). Just 4 hours away from a flurry of CE courses by car!
Dr. Schulz says there’s no better time to be a dentist. “When you’re just taught the basics, you need to go beyond the basics and this facility is where to go for beyond-the-basics.” Cone beam, sleep dentistry, pediatrics, CEREC, lasers, laser-assisted perio, guided implant placement, milled chairside surgical guides, and digital orthodontics are on the hit list of CE offerings. Digital dentures are coming soon.
Schulz believes that there’s a fear factor involved with not knowing how to use new technology. For instance, once you learn how to do a scan, then you need to learn how to read and interpret it. “Being a dentist is like being a quarterback” says Schulz. Practitioners need to know every position involved in a case in order to win and succeed. This training facility opens the door for knowledge and hands-on experience at a convenient location in the vibrant community of Overland Park — with fine dining, entertainment, sports, and shopping at our doorstep. The facility is also available for manufacturer training and other dental organizations.
